My dad was stationed at RAF Alconbury on two tours, from 1966-1968 and 1970-1972, the first tour we lived in Buckden and the second tour we lived in Buckden Towers (castle) and base housing.  I went to both Alconbury Elementary and Molesworth (7th/8th grades).  I have great memories of my time here and see some familiar names (Goddens).  I gave my first kiss to a special girl (Lynda Godden).  I played for the Spartans on base and Matt Eccles got me onto the team and played Center. I remember Matt Eccles who lived across from me on base, Bradley and Randy Miller, Ron Barker. Would be good to hear from them again or hear of them.  I currently live near London an hour away from Alconbury and have been there many times.  Molesworth is a top secret base now so can't go into it. If anyone remembers my brother Richard, sisters Patty and Ana, me say hello. Be great to hear from you.

Kim Thank you VERY much as always your hard work for our group is appreciated. Only someone with your experence and detication could have organized the 2020 reunion and then reorganized it for 2021!!! This is going to be a great time to reflect and enjoy the fellowship of our oldest friend from a much simpler time. I encourage all of our group to join in the Dallas FUN next summer.  Best regards Steve

Hi! I went to Alconbury Elementary. 72-73 school year I was in kindergarten and had Mrs. Harms. 73-74 school year I had Mr. Woolen something. Nobody could say his name so we all called him Mr. Carl. I had a brother, Billy, two years ahead of me. He had Miss Newsome. I have lots of memories and visuals in my head but they dont seem to match the pictures I googled of Alconbury Elementary. I guess it was at a different location then. Id love to know where it was. Anyway.. Some of my memories are sketchy. It seems like at Thanksgiving time the school walked over to a building where we had a big fancy lunch. Maybe it was the nco club? I remember a play ground with see saws in the back? If anyone could tell me where the alconbury elementary campus was 71-74 that would be great!

It's 48 years since I last saw any of you that lived at Chelveston ..... but it seems like yesterday. I remember clearly making my way up from Caldecott, where I lived, to play basketball with many of you - Roger Keener, Scott Kosygin, Mark Noble, Greg Bolden, Mick Ross. I even managed to spend a couple days at school with you at Molesworth and can remember the small of the rooms and corridors near the lockers ..... Those childhood memories have proved so valuable in sustaining that relationship between the USA and Britain (regardless what our politicians have to say). I'm still in touch with a couple of you and even met up with one of you (you know who you are!), and I wish you all well, and hope you have great reunion at Alconbury in June. Maybe I'll make it over from France where I live - close to those beaches that our grandparents liberated in June '44.

Hi everyone! I attended Molesworth from 1969-1972 and then Lakenheath during 1972& 1973. I lived at Molesworth base housing about 5 houses down from Mr. Fitzpatrick. It would be so good to reconnect with the old gang. Does anyone know the whereabouts of Alan Hart, Jeff Kinser, Mike Elkins, Jan Fillmore, or Cheryl King? It was a wonderful time in all our lives. I am saddened by those we have lost. I would love to hear from anyone who was there at the time. I currently live in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Have a great day everyone! Hope to hear from someone soon!

Hello to all! This is your classmate, team mate, and pres. Russ Wilson. Special shout out to Ms. Ann Scarbrough who was my first love. And to Lou Anne Heth, Joanne Kolowski, Beverly Gomez and Felicia Johnson all of whom I never kissed but was quite infatuated with. And the ones I did kiss(Ah-hem) also. And to all of my team-mates that played in organized and pickup sports. The names are too many! Just read this guest book! You guys know it was all about team then. Thank you who voted for me for president. I was after Shaun O' and before Phillips. I was also before Barack Obama(Right on!). It was a very special time. A time after the violence of the 1960's in which the Devil intended for us to fall apart. But by the Will of God we chose to come together instead! And we're still keeping in touch, which is nothing short of a miracle. Teachers like Mr. Bunch and Mr. Snively helped us along the way and are still help us today. I am now a teacher. I miss the ones we lost. In 1973 the 10th graders didn't always like the 9th graders , and I won't mention any names(Sully), but I will forever love and remember all of you. And yes Bev, we used to drive Sgt. Gomez crazy sneaking into the NCO club at night to play pinball. Thank you Kim Morgan for making this possible.

Greatings Classmates and Friends We all need to be getting organized for this summers reunion it will be a great weekend. Kim Morgan has planed this event in every detail and I can tell you this venue is perfect for our group. The bar is like an "adult" AYA pool table, foosball table etc. Carol and I are making a New York vacation and going up on June 14th and departing on the 20th. The Hotel is honoring the great rate Scott negoatiated for the entier stay. Also we got some very good pricing on air tickets this far out. It is not too soon to make your arrangements!! Was feeling a bit nostalgic so clicked over to this site and got even more so!  So, I just thought I'd leave a big Hello! for everyone out there that might remember me.  We were stationed at Alconbury from December 1969 to June 1970.  That would have been 8th and 9th grade years for me.  We lived in Peterborough on Mountbatten Way along with dozens of other American families!  I was really shy in those days, not so much now!  Most people remember me as the quiet girl with short, red hair.  I currently live in Houston, Texas but think of the time spent in Europe (we were stationed there three times between 1966 and 1977) as the happiest years of my life!  I won't be able to attend the next reunion (flying is NOT a good thing for me!) but if we ever decide to have another one in Texas I'll be there!! Feel free to message me anytime!

I was in Molesworth and played the Jr. Spartans in '75. Lived in Yaxley, everyone stood in front of my house for the bus stop. Lol.  Sheri Woolf was there too. Alton Edwards. ect.  Somebody contact me. Been a long time. Stumbled on this site.

Wikipedia.org states that on January 8, 2015 it was announced that the Royal Air Force Alconbury is closing along with RAF Mildenhall and RAF Molesworth. I thought RAF Molesworth was already closed years ago. I know Wikipedia.org is the worst place to get correct information but I thought I would share. I am planning to attend my first reunion in 2017 and hope others that have never been will be like me and come because we are averaging 60 years and who knows how much longer we will be here.  Through the years I have run into people that have had something to do with the RAF's in England. I met an English woman standing in the bathroom line Christmas Eve in North Conway, New Hampshire 2 years ago (yes, no matter how old you get they never have enough bathroom stalls for the women) and she told me she learned how to drive on RAF Molesworth's flight line. Another person I met was when I car pooled to work with a woman, Jodi, that was stationed with her husband at RAF Alconbury and lived in the housing in Yaxley in the 1990's. And for you Yaxley housed brats she worked at Yax Pack Mushrooms!! Yax Pack Mushrooms is thriving and has doubled in size. At the same time I was carpooling with Jodi I started to car pool with Chuck and Chuck was a Air Force brat stationed at Mt. Home, Idaho the same time Jean Woods and I were there with our fathers who were learning to fly a new plane. Chuck's father worked the flight line. Nancy Nies and I were roommates in college and next door to us our freshman year was Jane Taylor from RAF Lakenheath. It really is a small world.  Looking forward to seeing everyone in 2017 and hopefully I would have dropped the extra weight and have something left of my memory. So if I look familiar to you and I walk right past you just grab me I will be very appreciative.

Hope to make the reunion.

I lived at RAF Alconbury from 1971-1977 and attended both Molesworth JHS and Lakenheath HS.  I was in the graduating class of '78 so I did not actually graduate from Lakenheath as we relocated back to the States just before my senior year.  Even though I am not a Lakenheath grad, I feel more connected to that group since I only attended my high school in Virgina for only 1 year.  It would be great to reconnect with anyone who was around at that time.

What a great site. Just saw this for the first time and spent the next 2 hours looking at pictures and piecing back together fragmented memories of such a great and significant time in my life, and apparently so many others lives as well. It's been 39 years since we left Alconbury, yet I can look at the Football team photo and after a couple of go rounds remember at least partial names of 2/3 of the guys in it. We were thousands of miles from anything familiar, a different world really, because of our Dad's jobs, and grew up largely by leaning on each other. Thanks to all those who were friends during those shared days, and to the folks who made and maintain this site. Great times.

Yesterday, my parents celebrated 57 years of marriage.  MSGT Louis Johnson was stationed at Alconbury AFB from 1972-1975.  I am a Molesworth/Alconbury Jr High School alumi, while my older sister Felecia Johnson-Paxton had the additional privilege of attending Lakenheath High School.  (even back then, she informed me that no matter where we ended up, the ONLY 'reunion' she would ever attend would be the one for Lakenheath High) The England experience turned out to be the best years of our developing adolecence years. Never to be forgotten. Truly this is why we travel to support these renunions. Upon arrival, the experience feels as if family has gathered.  Even though attendees are people whose only connection is a place randomly selected through some one elses military affiliation. The kiniship that takes place is nothing short of magical.  Amazing but true.   My sister and I remain continually grateful to the organizers and sustainers of this awesome event.  New York will be our third reunion and we would not miss it for anything.  I encourage all who can, to please join us.  You will not regret the time spent and like us, you too, will be hooked on the England 'family' get togethers. See you in New York 2017 LORI K JOHNSON-class of '78

I only knew the name "Alconbury Spartans" because it was also used by the USAF guys who raced stock cars in the 1960's.  They and their colleagues at Chelveston were famous for their vigorous driving and their enviable access to big US V-8 engines. Ted Janes was one: http://oldstox.com/images/Gordon%20Bland/ted%20janes%20fan%2065.jpg http://oldstox.com/images/Gordon%20Bland/Ted%20Janes%20Brands.jpg In this photo http://oldstox.com/images/Group.jpg are A2c  Ed Bilak, A2c Jim Crye, A1c Clyde Nichols, A1c Mark Thomson, TSGT.Ted Janes, A3cSSGT Grant Ford, A3c James Sawyer.  Any veterans who remember those ndays can see my whole stock-car history site at www.oldstox.com

Hello everyone! Just wanted to say I can't wait for the next reunion in '15, '17 or '18! I hope it's going to be in 2017. And tho' I live on the west coast (Ca.), I'd LOVE an excuse to go to NYC again! In New Orleans I stayed in my timeshare so felt disconnected to everyone. My sister wanted to leave early & also didn't want to attend the last days' "goodbye" brunch. My sister & I did have a great 10 day trip to N.O., seeing lots of things in the area. Hoping to see more Chelveston people @ the next reunion!- Tonya Edwards, Kathy Ehlert, Kat Pare', Lori Noble, Bobby Rowe, to name a few.

My brothers (Al & Ray), sister Medora and I lived at Alconbury from 1964-1966 and went to Molesworth.  Medora also went to Lakenheath.  I went to a 'Molesworth Reunion' in Fairhope, AL last year but everyone was from earlier years.  Have no idea if anyone remembers any of us but would love to hear if they do!  Wish I'd been able to go to NOLA.

Truly loved my days at Feltwell and Lakenheath!

Went to Alconbury elementary in 66, then moved on to Molseworth until the end of 1968 when my dad was transferred back to the states.  Remember all the field trips? Many places we went for basically free that people pay thousands to go to...and never have the fun we did. How may rushed home to watch Blue Peter?  Not many choices on television back then.  Then there was the seemingly never ending daylight in the summer. Fond memories...heck I think I even have a class picture of my 6th grade class taken for 1967-1968.......

like others I found the site by accident. I'm very active on Facebook- Military Brats: Our Journey Home. My brother John and sister Gloria were also there. We arrived in January 1967 and left July 1969. I was there for 6th-8th grades. Honestly the best time of my Brat life. Best friends with Julie Quigg, Diana Navickas, Sharon Paulino, Tracy Light and Trista Berkovitz. Can't attend this reunion, but I will certainly try to make the next one. My dad was the Chief Legal Eagle on base.
